“Of course I can do it,” he said,
“I’m no fool.
I’ve hung lots of pictures.
Go get me the stool.”

“Bring me the Philips Head.
Get me a screw,
How ’bout a soda?
Put ice in it, too.”

“You’re dead on your feet,
And would I cook a meal?
Sure, I can do that.
What’s the big deal?”

“Just bring me some eggs,
And a bowl and the beater.
Where do you keep pots?

Should I make this sweeter?”

“You need to get out,
’cause the kids make you crazy?
Of course I can manage.
You know I’m not lazy.”

“Just give them their baths,
And make sure they’re fed,
And be back in an hour,
To put them to bed.”
